Divergent

Set in a futuristic Chicago, the society was divided into 5 factions, namely: Abnegation (the selfless), Erudite (the intelligent), Candor (the honest), Amity (the peaceful), and Dauntless (the brave). Every teenager who reaches 16 will be given the opportunity as to choose whether to stay on the faction where they grew up or transfer to another by having an aptitude test that will help them decide. As for Beatrice, who became Tris later on, her test gave her 3 results (Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite) which is does not sound good. It meant her life would be in danger. Normally, people only get 2 at most. Having 3 or more meant one is a Divergent -- one who cannot be controlled. Knowing that she does not really belong to her old faction, she transferred to Dauntless. That's when the real thrill and action begins.

First of all, I would like to say that this is my favorite dystopian novel ever. Divergent is ingeniously written that made it a page-turner. Every page has its own thrill that urges you to flip it right after the other. Veronica Roth had me "omg what's gonna happen next," "omg she just did not," "omg Four," "omg omg omg." Divergent is a pack happiness, thrill, excitement, romance, and friendship in one book. Saying the novel is AMAZING is a great understatement. DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE. READ THE BOOK.

Speaking of the movie, I'd be straightforward. I don't like the cast. I just think they don't suit the characters Roth built in the book. She did mention that Tris is short, but Shailene Woodley is not. I also don't think Theo James should be Four. However, Kate Winslet and Maggie Q are perfect for Jeanine Matthews and Tori Wu, respectively. I'm just pissed with the casting of the 2 major characters. Really, they messed it up.

Here's my own cast for Tris and Four:

Hayden Panttiere

AnnaSophia Robb

Ginny Gardner

Alexandra Daddario

Alex Pettyfer

Sean Faris
